The Location of Peth Head Cottage is in a small hamlet called Juniper which is 4 miles south of Hexham. Hexham is situated on the A69 21 miles west of Newcastle on Tyne, north east England uk.

It is necessary for you to have your own means of transport as there is no public transport access between Hexham and Juniper. There is rail and bus access to Hexham.

Parking for your vehicle

On arrival, parking for your vehicle is located at the rear of the house, on tarmac with two designated parking bays for guest vehicles. There is all round access to your car.

To access Peth Head Cottage there is a level gravel and stone path leading from the parking area to front of house and the entrance door. You will encounter one step (16 cms) through the garden gate. The distance from your car to the entry door is approximately 25 meters and we can assist you with your luggage.

The main doorway into Peth Head Cottage is a double glazed unit with raised stepover entry.
There is automatic lighting in the car park area and outside lighting to the front.

We have a lockup stone shed for cycle storage.

Inside Peth Head Cottage

The guest lounge is on the ground floor and accessed immediately after the entrance door to the left. The seating is comfortable armchairs and sofa. Your breakfast is organised in the lounge round one table suitable for four persons.

Bedrooms

Both bedrooms are located on the first floor accessed by a single flight of thirteen steps (height 17 cms 20 cms deep ) with handrail.

Both rooms have an enclosed en suite shower, w.c., and handbasin within the room. The bedrooms have superking double beds which can separate to be used as twin beds. The rooms also have hospitality trays with electric kettles, tv and radio, drawer and cupboard space. Each bedroom has seating and extra space heating for guests comfort.

Flooring is carpet throughout all the guest areas.

All doorways at Peth Head are single width and unsuitable for wheelchair access.

Breakfasts are Aga cooked and always accompanied with home made bread, jams and marmalades. There is a comfortable guest lounge for relaxation and tea, coffee and home made biscuits are always available after your day's excursions. Sorry but we do not accept pets and the cottage is totally non smoking. Private off road parking available for your vehicle and we also have lock up facilities for cycles. There is no public transport to Juniper so you do need to have your own transport. This is a very quiet and peaceful countryside location - comfortable bed and breakfast, b&b accommodation for Hexham & Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland.

Walking in Northumberland

There is a wealth of right of way footpaths and walking trails in Northumberland and the nearby Durham Dales. Northumberland hosts sections of Hadrian's Wall trail, St. Cuthbert's Way, Pennine Way, St. Oswald's Way. The Reivers Way, covering 150 miles around the marches of Northumberland, takes in Corbridge Elsdon, Rothbury, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and Alnmouth. The newly rediscovered, and soon to be promoted, walking route by the legendary Wainwright in his book Pennine Journeys actually comes through the hamlet of Juniper.

Cycling and Mountain Biking in Northumberland

Northumberland has excellent facilites for cycling and mountain biking. Many famous routes are in Northumberland - C2C cycle route, Hadrian's cycle route, Reivers route and some fantastic mountain bike cycling at Kielder.

Golf courses in Northumberland

If you are looking for b&b, bed and breakfast accommodation for recreational golf or competition golf then Peth Head Cottage is only a ten minute drive away from the Championship Golf course of Slaley Hall. We are a 25 minute drive from the super courses at Matfen Hall and Close House Golf Courses. There are two Golf courses in Hexham and also the lovely course at Allendale in the North Pennines - see the websites below for further information. Chapel House self catering holiday cottage - ideal for couples, families or groups of friends

We also have a self catering holiday cottage accommodation a mile and a half away from Peth Head Cottage near Hexham and Hadrian's Wall. Chapel House in Whitley Chapel has a Visit Britain 5 star award. The cottage sleeps up to 5 people. Upstairs the cottage has three bedrooms, and bathroom with bath, overbath shower, handbasin and w.c.. The two larger bedrooms both have handbasins. Downstairs is an open plan lounge/diner with separate utility room and downstairs w.c.

Chapel House is a detached Northmbrian stone cottage set in it's own grounds - you have no immediate neighbours and the views are spectacular over to Slaley Forest and the North Pennines. Very sunny peaceful garden with plenty of outdoor eating and bbq areas.

The cottage can be hired (minimum of two nights) for any number of nights - you are not restricted to only weekends or weekly bookings.
